2011
Save the Date for the 2011 Urban Water Sustainability
Leadership Conference, in the World Water Hub of Milwaukee,
Wisconsin, October 3-5, 2011. Based on the success of last year’s
Leadership Conference, teams
of municipal leaders in sustainability will explore models that
feature cross-agency collaboration for green infrastructure and
resource recovery. The timing of the conference makes it an ideal
meeting ground for discussion around U.S. EPA stormwater guidelines,
due to be released in September.
In its second year, the Leadership Conference is hosted by
the Clean Water America Alliance’s
Urban Water Sustainability Council, chaired by Kevin Shafer
(Milwaukee MSD). Members of the Council represent a network of
thoughtful leaders creating new ways to improve the urban water
environment while building local economic growth and advancing
social equity. Council meetings are opportunities to share successes
and strategize overcoming barriers to progress. Primarily members
are water utility leaders, however leaders in related areas (such as
urban sustainability directors, city or county environmental or
planning directors, commerce leaders, business) are welcome. Council
membership is free, although all are encouraged to join the Alliance
as an annual or
Founding member.
