About the U.S. Water Prize

In a celebration of sustainable solutions that advance holistic, watershed-based approaches to water quality and quantity challenges, the Clean Water America Alliance (Alliance) will present the inaugural United States Water Prizes in 2011. The Alliance created the United States Water Prize Program to encourage and celebrate those individuals and institutions that are developing projects/programs to advance and address the issues surrounding water as a finite, reusable and sustainable resource.

The United States Water Prize Program seeks to honor any United States-based institution, organization, or individual whose project or initiative represents effective innovation in ensuring water sustainability by advancing holistic, watershed-based approaches to water quality and quantity challenges. Initiatives may be in the following topic areas: education, public awareness, research, technology, water resource management, or policy development.

The Alliance will award up to five United States Water Prizes each year starting in 2011 and believes the award program will encourage and inspire continued innovation in the clean water arena.
